Common Foreign & Security Policy (CFSP) for the European Union (EU)
The EU implements sanctions imposed by the Security Council of the United Nations. As a UN member, the EU is required to adhere to restrictive measures in order to maintain or restore international peace and security. Maintained by the EU Credit Sector Federations, sanctions include:
- Trade sanctions (arms embargoes)-
- prohibition on the sale, supply, transfer or export of arms & related materials, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles, etc
- prohibition on financing or technical assistance related to military activities and to the provision, maintenance and use of arms
- Financial sanctions (freezing of funds or economic resources, prohibition on financial transactions, restrictions on export credits or investment)
- Restrictions on admission into the EU
